Course phases
Find out why countless divers say Rescue Diver is their favorite dive course
The PADI Rescue Diver + EFR course (or First Aid Training) is made up of two main phases:
01
Before you start saving lives you will need to learn certain concepts that will be useful to put into action.
02
You will practice through simulations how to act in situations that you could find yourself.
01
Online learning makes it easy to take scuba lessons if you have a busy schedule. In addition, online training makes it easy to fit a CPR and first aid course into a compact program.
Watch videos of different first aid techniques and learn what steps to take in an emergency.
Complete the knowledge development section of your course where and when it’s convenient for you, even from the comfort of your bed.
02
Training sessions in the water are a lot of fun. You will practice through drills how to fix a leg cramp and help a tired diver by role-playing with other students and your instructor, helping an unconscious diver, among other drills.
03
Finally, you will learn essential skills to help others in an emergency.
You’ll get hands-on experience administering CPR using a special manikin, practicing bandaging and splinting, and apply your new skills in a role-play scenario.
Diving requires a minimum level of health and fitness. Chronic health conditions, certain medications and/or recent surgeries may require that you obtain a physician’s written approval before diving.
Avoid disappointment, download and review the Diver’s Medical Form to make sure you won’t need your doctor’s approval before signing up for a dive course. Instructors, divemasters and dive personnel are not doctors and should not be asked for medical advice; only medical professionals can issue a medical certificate for diving.
If you (or your doctor) have any questions about medical fitness to dive, contact the experts at Divers Alert Network (DAN).
And the first aid part:
The price of the course, including VAT, is €490
Minimum age: 12
Certified Rescue Divers between the ages of 12 and 14 earn a Junior Rescue certificate. Any replacement certification card or eCard purchased after the diver’s 15th birthday will automatically display a Rescue Diver (not Jr. Rescue Diver Certification).
Course Prerequisites: Any diver with an Open Water Diver (or Jr. Open Water Diver) certification can enroll in a PADI Rescue Diver course, complete the Rescue Diver eLearning, and participate in Confined Water Rescue Drills.
To participate in the Open Water Rescue Drills and become certified as a PADI Rescue Diver, the student must complete the Underwater Navigation Adventure Dive and be certified as a PADI (Junior) Adventure Diver. A PADI (or other qualifying) Advanced Open Water Diver certification also meets this prerequisite.
Certification also requires training in CPR and first aid within the last 24 months. If you do not have this training, you can enroll in an Emergency First Response (EFR) Primary Care (CPR) and Secondary Care (First Aid) course with your PADI Instructor.
