The PADI Divemaster course teaches you to be a leader and take charge of diving activities.
Through knowledge development sessions, in-water exercises and technique seminars, and through practical assessment, you will develop the skills to organize and direct a variety of diving activities.

Sign up for Divemaster Online – PADI’s eLearning option – to start training from your own home.
You can work through eight sections of knowledge development using a web-based system that allows you to learn at your own pace.
You also have access to an online version of the Divemaster Manual for consultation during and after the course.
Another option is to study by reading the Divemaster Manual and watching the Divemaster Video (a book and DVD package).

The course includes several dives where you will practice putting yourself in charge of various diving activities.

Diving requires a minimum level of health and fitness. Chronic health conditions, certain medications and/or recent surgeries may require that you obtain a physician’s written approval before diving.
Avoid disappointment, download and review the Diver’s Medical Form to make sure you won’t need your doctor’s approval before signing up for a dive course. Instructors, divemasters and dive personnel are not doctors and should not be asked for medical advice; only medical professionals can issue a medical certificate for diving.

As a dive professional, you’ll want to have all of your basic dive gear, including a dive computer, a dive knife, and at least two surface signaling devices.
During practical exercises, such as underwater mapping and search and recovery, you will use a compass, floats, marker buoys, lifting balloons, and whiteboards. Your PADI Instructor can suggest additional equipment that will help you throughout your diving career.

Course Prerequisites: Rescue Diver certificate, 40 logged dives, CPR and First Aid certification within 24 months, medical clearance to dive.
The minimum age to start the Padi Dive Master course is 18 years old.
